Glycohemoglobin : A test called glycohemoglobin or hba1c measures the percentage of hemoglobin (hb) molecules that have a glucose (sugar) molecule bound to it- this is glycohemoglobin. Hb molecules have an average life of 3 months. The higher the amount of sugar in your blood, the greater the percentage of hb becomes glycohemoglobin. Thus, this test can tell us your average blood sugar level over the past 3 months.
