A member asked:

Are "bio-identical" hormones safe? what is the difference between bio-identical hormones and the old kind?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Bioidentical hormone: Bioidentical hormone therapy contains pharmacologically active hormones just like traditional hormone therapy. They come from plant sources rather than manufactured sources. Unfortunately, they do not have the same level of regulation with regard to quality or safety. A bio identical regimen could cause endometrial hyperplasia and increased cancer risk just like traditional hrt.
