A member asked:

Is it safe to use ghrh (growth hormone release hormone) when 17 years old to increase final height development?

No: By age 17 years, almost all teens have stopped growing taller. That is usually because the growth areas at the end of their long bones have "fused" or "closed". A return visit to a teenager's pediatrician, who can graph out his heights (from several years back) onto a growth chart, can reveal when the teen finished growing. Injecting growth hormone can cause side effects instead of more height.

No: Ghrh is not indicated to treat growth hormone deficiency and short stature. At age 17 yrs, most boys have fused growth plates so they cannot be helped even by gh or igf-1 etc.
