A member asked:

Diagnosed with ibs-c but now noticing mucus in stools i keep cramping after having small bms should i ask for a colonoscopy? doctors keep saying no

A doctor has provided 1 answer

IBS: Is most often due to unbalanced messages from the lower brain that has become too reactive. It can indeed be associated with inflammatory bowel disease and justifies colonoscopy. Commonest cause of ibs is poor diet, particularly all forms of sugar.
