A member asked:

My dr thinks i have ibs-c. i don't want a colonoscopy. my doctor said they can't do a stool fit test cause of my age. i recently heard of stool dna test & it isn't here in canada yet. does anyone know if there is a way i could get a stool dna test ?

Check with your local drug store where you may be able to get a kit for FIT test specimen collection and mail it to a lab for testing. The DNA test is more expensive and probably not needed. It also requires expert interpretation. If there is history of early onset colon cancer in your family, get a colonoscopy at 10 years younger than the earliest age at which a family member developed cancer.
