A member asked:

Can i apply topical hyaluronic acid to plump skin if desonide thins facial skin? can it counter? this is for seb derm/eczema/pd/skin flaking.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Skin thinning: Skin thinning from topical steroids involves decrease in thickness of epidermis and loss of collagen from dermis. Hyaluronic acid (ha) holds water molecules & if applied to skin surface, skin looks temporarily more plump due to increased water content. Topical ha does nothing to increase thickness of epidermis or replace collagen. Other meds besides topical steroids can be used to treat seb derm.
