See Doc: If this is an at home test, see you doctor to confirm if it strep. Doctors usually want to treat strep throat with an antibiotic because some types of strep may cause other serious problems if not treated. Antibiotics are by prescription only. Please see your doctor.

Strep: Strep is sensitive to several types of the penicillin class, and other alternative antibiotics. It should be treated to prevent rhuematic heart disease.. Family members may also be cultured and treated to prevent recurrance.
