More vegetarian: Gout is caused by an increase in uric acid in the blood. Uric acid is a waste product of protein metabolism. There is a list of foods to avoid to help prevent a gouty attack. Unfortunately everything is on the list. My recommendation is to eat everything you are eating , but eat one half the amount of the bad foods and substitute more vegetables, fruits, nuts into your diet.
