A member asked:

Could you tell me if muscles repair only during sleep, what is the point of eating protein for lunch?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Protein digestion: In general protein is very difficult for the body to digest. This is one though process about why it is good to have high protein for diets. Your body has to work to extract the calories. So don't worry about the time of day to digest the protein, it takes hours. Also some say to eat protein in the middle of the day to prevent the carbohydrate crash. Muscles repair typically when not in use.
