Sometimes, with a physiologic stress, like getting a catheter, the blood sugars will temporarily go higher so more insulin is needed. It is not a huge difference to need 20 units instead of 16 but, over time, your blood sugars may return to lower levels. Monitor your blood sugars and if you start to have lower numbers, you can ask if you can try to go back to 16 units of insulin. Good luck!
