Neither do I understand the concept. They can just put a balloon (foley) catheter in the first place. Take care.

Putting in a type of suprapubic catheter depends on many things- reason, ease, condition of patient and several other reasons which a Urologist takes into consideration before choosing one. The reason you have not heard of this before is that most people do not know all the ways to treat a condition. So the situation may warrant just what is proposed. You can also ask the Urologist - why? Good luc
