Suprapubic catheters. new to me. is there more involved inserting the little white curlytail ones compared to the normal brown larger ones. both 14fr. i saw a nurse covered in heavy armor, is this lead to stop the xrays? do i get more xrays?

I think you had a fluoroscopically guided percutaneous suprapubic cystostomy and that's only necessary for the first time. Yes, healthcare practitioners have to wear lead apron for minimizing radiation exposure because they do many cases a day and almost 5 days a week. To the patient, that's just one time exposure. Take care.

Your Urologist will decide which is best for you and inserting one is relatively simple (also should be explained to you). Whether you need xrays or not will depend on the reason you need the catheter and the procedure your Uro will do. You should be fine
