If the hypokinesis was observed during a regular echocardiogram and not during a stress echocardiogram then it is likely irreversible. In contrast, if the hypokinesis is only observed during exercise but not in resting phase then that area may be reversed with medical therapy and exercise which can improve collateral circulation although the vascular lesion is not fixed by stent or bypass surgery.
