There are various causes of elevated d dimer other than blood clots. Clotting problems are one if those causes. I would ask your gynecologist if your recent uterine bleeding with breakdown of blood clots plays a role in elevating your high d dimer result. Uterine cancer with abnormal uterine bleeding, has been known to cause elevated d dimer. With high d dimer levels more testing is done

Work up has to continue as outpatient if already released from the hospital. Your anxiety is understandable as you have unexplained symptoms and abnormal blood tests suggesting pathology. Either your primary care doc or your Gyn doc should be among the first ones to see timely.
