A member asked:

Ok so i ate chips and they were kinda hard and one side of my gums like just my right side is swollen can it be because of that or because i brushed hard today?

Did the forceful brushing cause bleeding? I doubt that it would cause gum swelling. A swelling of the gum is concerning. It's possible that a segment of a chip got lodged in your gumline. Infection is another possibility. I recommend having your dentist examine& advise you.

Brushing hard is less effective than brushing gently but thoroughly, and may cause gum recession. And if you are not flossing you're missing 35%. A grade of 65% is not very good, is it? You may have scraped your tongue eating hard chips. Should be 100% healed in no more than 2 weeks. If not, see Dentist immediately.
