A polyp that is removed prevents cancer. Eventually, this polyp could have become a cancer but, because it was removed, it won’t develop into a cancer. Since there were no other polyps present, you are likely fine for at least 5 years, depending on your family history and other factors. So, follow your GI doctor’s advice about when to have your next colonoscopy for cancer prevention. Good luck!
