Chamomile.: Unisom or Benadryl (diphenhydramine) are considered safe in pregnancy, however Diphenhydramine crosses the placenta and should be avoided if not necessary. Try non-medicinal methods, such as chamomile, avoidance of stimulants (caffeine, tea, chocolate). If you have to take Diphenhydramine to sleep, only take 25 mg nightly for as little time as possible.
