A member asked:

I have recently been seeing a brownish or sometimes reddish hue surrounding my stool in the commode water every couple of days but my stool itself seems to be normal color is this a cause for concern?

You should see a doctor and have your stool tested for microscopic blood. Any blood in the stool, even microscopic, needs to be evaluated to be sure there is nothing seriously wrong. If the stool does test positive for blood, a GI doctor should be seem. If it tests negative, then another explanation for what you are seeing needs to be sought. So, see your doctor for an evaluation. Good luck!
