When you have an indwelling catheter, urine is continuously draining out and bladder is almost empty most of the time. The urge of voiding is due to the irritation (tip of catheter and balloon) so it won't change much the bladder volume if you try to force the urine out. If you want you can do it and there is no risk. Take care.

The balloon of the catheter which prevents it from falling out, sometimes irritates the bladder causing urge to urinate. Pl dont try to force urine out. Try to take slow deep breathes and relax and the feeling will slowly go away. If it is recurrent, annoying. painful- your doc can give you medicine to help with that. Hope you feel better
