I have a catheter put in my bladder due to unable to pee, is it normal that i still have strong urge to pee even with the catheter in place?

Here are some ...: Feeling intermittent urge to pee after indwelling catheter is normally expected and caused by bladder spam, but manageable if spasm-related discomfort is intolerable, judicious use of anti-spasm drug may help. Of course, make sure the catheter is not in tension on to urethra or kinked. More detail on catheter-related symptoms? Ask Doc - preferably urologist. Best wishes...

Yes: The catheter can be irritating, which can mimic the feeling of needing to urinate. Be sure to keep your physician informed of any symptoms you are having as there are several potential complications that s/he needs to monitor for.
