A member asked:

Oral surgery. are dissolvable stitches easily visible a few hours of removing gauzes of third molar extractions. i can't see them. i only see dark red where the cuts where made. i assume the stitches are under the "drying" blood above the stitches?

They may not be visible due to their location or as you described, under the blood clot.

These sutures are made up of sterile, absorbable compounds that eventually dissolve. Most dissolve in a few weeks depending on size and how many. The reason you don't see them is they are clear colored unlike nylon sutures which are black.
