A member asked:

Went for oral surgery-wisdom teeth extraction top/ and dr asked if i bit my tongue. i believe i did but dr took biopsy to be sure. required a stitch. does this type of biopsy mean it appears more like a cancer to the dr? he doesnt think it is more?

Any suspicious lesion requires a biopsy in order to rule out any disease that is present, including cancer. The biopsy will reveal if any abnormal disease process is occurring and not necessarily cancer. Don't worry, wait for results.

Your Dentist is being prudent. Anythingnthat links suspicious must be evaluated. The b biopsy will provide an additional layer of information and help your Dentist come to the correct diagnosis.
