My mother takes losartan-hydrochlorothiazide (50/25) daily in the morning, however, recently her blood pressure keeps going up during the day above 160 and the back up cardiologist did not provide any solution. what to do? can another pill be taken?

You need to be careful with these combination pills because she may not need another dose of the diuretic. She could end up with dehydration. She should keep a log of her blood pressures at home and show the doctor all her numbers. It is possible her blood pressure is not staying at the higher level for very long and it is not worth risking having her blood pressure go too low-this risks falls.
