I'm a 74 year old male, i have chronic sleep apnea, heart disease, diabetes,copd,arthritis, fibromyalgia. i was just prescribed lyrica 50 mg. how safe is it for me to take?

It has to do with goals for your therapy, all the other meds you are taking, previous response to other drugs/ allergies. Make sure you report to your prescriber in case undesired effects, Lyrica is not going to cure any of your condition, it is intended to give you relief from your symptoms.

Do plan to discuss your fears with your doctor. Lyrica will usually not interact with your multiple other medications as it metabolizes via the kidneys. Side effects can include drowsiness, dizziness, (so avoid driving and activities at heights), weight gain, and ankle swelling. Your current dose is a low introductory level. Do you truly have fibromyalgia, or rather a small fiber neuropathy?
