Typically, pain due to gastritis is often felt in the epigastric area (below the xyphoid process of the breast bone) but some people may feel laterally to that area which is called referred pain. Pain from gastritis is somewhat different from symptoms of trapped gas in the gastrointestinal tract. Good luck.
