A member asked:

Can a hiatal hernia disappear? i had an endoscopy over a year ago and a small 1 cm hiatal hernia was discovered. recently i underwent another one and they said there was no hiatal hernia detected at all. can they heal themselves?

1cm is pretty small and may have not been visualized if it reduced itself during the second endo. Tho anything is possible in medicine most of the time there is no self- healing if a hernia

Although it would be unlikely for a hiatal hernia to disappear, they do slide up and down and are not always visible at an endoscopy. If you have a large hiatal hernia, it will not change as much. Good luck.
