Please note that a criteria for IBS definition is symptoms have to be present for a period of 3 consecutive months in minimum. Because IBS can be classified as a psychosomatic disorder so extreme emotion or stress may have some causal relationship with this syndrome. Good luck.

Extreme emotions and anxiety do not cause IBS, but they certainly can affect the bowel function and can result in diarrhea. IBS – D is a specific diagnosis for a syndrome where the symptoms have been going on for at least three months. See your doctor if your anxiety seems to be overwhelming your digestive tract function.
