I have severe anemia. my iron is only 26, ferritin 4, hemoglobin 10 and i'm struggling to walk. i had a blood clot with my period and felt lightheaded, sleepy and legs felt warm. do i lose iron/ferritin during menstruation? am i in danger?

All blood loss means iron loss, including menstruation. But you apparently are losing more than usual, or you might have another cause for blood loss in addition. Additional testing is likely needed, especially evaluation for unnoticed intestinal bleeding. Keep working with your doctors until the answers are 100% certain. Good luck.

All menstruating women lose iron with menses. Most will need to be on an iron supplement starting by the first menses unless their diet is rich enough in iron containing foods to keep up with the loss. Your symptoms sound like you need in person medical care to validate the cause of the anemia and potentially provide an iron infusion.
