I'd bet so: Iron is involved in much more than hemoglobin production, and people who are iron-deficient feel tired and weak before the anemia appears. Iron also keeps your muscles and mitochondria going. You need to find out why you are iron deficient and address the underlying cause (illness, pregnancy / periods, diet).
