Although the spreading of such infections is rare, it does happen from time to time from maxillary dental infections. You are taking antibiotics which will minimize to potential of an abscess spreading.

The upper molars and premolars are the likely culprits to cause a sinus infection, but it is rare for the infection to spread to the brain. Cavernous sinus thrombosis is a rare but serious condition that occurs when a blood clot forms in the cavernous sinus, a large vein at the base of the brain.
