Abscess: A dental abscess is a virulent infection requiring IMMEDIATE treatment. Antibiotics can limit spread of infection, but not cure it. And infection will come roaring back when pills run out. Antibiotics can be prescribed by ER, Urgent Care, General Physician, or Dentist. But only General Dentist or Dental Specialist can both prescribe antibiotics and eliminate the source of the infection.
