My 12 year old has a vertical fracture through the left distal tibial metaphysis on her left ankle. she is currently in a fibreglass cast. can she go to school or should she keep her ankle elevated? how long will this cast stay on? thanks?

These are all good questions. Treating doctor best source for your questions Is the epiphysis involved? She should be able to proceed to school once swelling is under control. Ice behind the knee helps. The doctor should have instructed on weight bearing vs non weight bearing. And length of time. If fracture is displaced or not?
