One of my relatives got strep and presumably is being treated for it now. i was planning on visiting and staying with them for a couple days this memorial weekend. should i cancel my trip or will it be ok to see them? don't want strep?

In general, 24 hours after starting treatment for strep renders the person safe from transmitting it to others in a casual setting. I would not alter trip plans for this reason.
