No: Strep throat most often will resolve on it's own without antibiotics. We give antibiotics to shorten the course of the illness, prevent complications like a tonsillar abscess, and most importantly, to prevent rheumatic heart disease. Rheumatic heart disease is very uncommon in adults, so if you are improving on your own, there is no need for antibiotics at this point.
