Had a ultrasound on my thyroid that shows 4.7cm x 2.7cm nodule thats heterogenous with mixed solid and cystic areas, hyperechoic. wider than tall. mostly smooth partly ill defined areas and now they want to do a ct scan of my neck. why would this be?

This thyroid nodule does not have many features of a malignant nodule. I also assume you are euthyroid (normal TSH and T4). I wonder why CT of the neck is ordered but not fine needle biopsy just to rule out thyroid malignancy. Most likely you just have a benign, inactive thyroid nodule. Good luck.
