Your closing statement is correct: "if symptom were HIV related [you] would be positive". Also, HIV cannot cause symptoms only 5 days after infection. Any symptoms at that time had some other cause.

Hello doctors I had a risky sexual exposure and have tested negative for htlv1 by pcr 6 months after exposure . Does this pcr rule out HTLV1? NOT HIV
I had a blood exposure in April 2021. I took a 4th gen HIV test in July, August, September and October. I also took a HIV RNA by PCR test in October. All were negative. Are these considered conclusive or should I retest? I tested neg for HCV too?
