A member asked:

I had exposure to hiv. i took a 4th generation combo test at 25 days after exposure; i also took an hiv-1 rna pcr test 35 days after exposure, and it was negative. i took another 4th generation test at 41(negative). are these results conclusive?

A 4th generation HIV test is very accurate at detecting both early (within 10 days of exposure) and late HIV infection. Considering that all 3 of your HIV tests have been negative, it is very unlikely that you have been infected. Thank you for using HealthTap for your health questions!
