You should not take alka-seltzer for those symptoms. You should stop it and take Tums but I will prefer either a histamine-2 antagonist such as famotidine (pepcid AC) or a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) such as omeprazole (Prilosec OTC) or prevacid or nexium. Take care.

Alka-Seltzer contains aspirin, which is hard on the stomach and should not be used for upper gastrointestinal symptoms. Tums would be a much better choice. If you have persistent symptoms, talk to your primary doctor or a gastroenterologist about medications to help. Goof luck.
