A member asked:

Having acid reflux? past 1-2 weeks. burning acid rolls up chest to bottom of throat all day. nausea after meals. tums do not help. should i go to dr?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Take antacids: Acid reflux is relatively easy condition to treat. But you need to know(read up) about the various medicines which are useful. Tums is too old fashioned as it works only for a very short time. More modern drugs like Zantac, Pepcid or Prilosec work much better and provide relief for 12 to 24 hours. They are available over the counter but in half strength...so take 2 pills at a time.
