Will a dipstick urinalysis with specific gravity results of 1.005 produce a valid finding for blood. my result was negative for blood - can i trust this result? didnt know if urine was too diluted at 1.005. i appreciate your time and expertise?

Yes, diluted urine is prone to false negative result(s) because dipstick test reactivity is based on chemical reagents on the stick then if the LOW concentration of hemoglobin is made LOWER because of dilution, reaction (result) can be negative in case of mild hematuria. However, if microscopic exam is done then the presence of blood cells, i.e. hematuria, can be diagnosed. Take care.

If ther was blood in the urine it would show up in the dipstick no matter what the S.Gr. is. You should have a microscopic exam of it too.
