Taking long car rides or long flights are known risk factors for deep vein thrombosis (DVT). Without risk factors, persons with genetic defects like factor v laiden or prothrombin mutations. Presence of anti phospholipid syndrome can also cause thrombosis unprovoked. Hope it helps.
