Inflammation on Pap smear is so common it can be considered a normal finding. In some cases it can indicate cervicitis and/or various infections, including STDs. If at STD risk, it's a good idea to be tested. Either way, ask your gynecologist: what she observed (or didn't observe) on your cervix when collecting the pap specimen is the most important thing in judging these issues.
