A member asked:

I was diagnosed with a pyloric superficial ulcer with focal intestinal metaplasia within the ulcer on biopsy. what are the chances this turns to cancer and what treatments should be done? im on nexium. h pylori negative?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Best thing is to remove the metaplasia and also make sure there is no H pylori. This has been done. Then the chance to turning to cancer within 5 years ranges about 0.25% to 42%. Male patients have a higher chance. You need to be followed and watched closely by your Gastroenterologist.
