Not quite: Fillers help to restore volume which is lost with aging. This may be a temporary fix with good results in a patient with mild facial aging. Suspension of the lax tissues can only be achieved with surgery.

Not really: Only surgery will reposition or tighten facial tissues that sag from aging. Other treatments such as dermal fillers, laser skin rejuvenation and Botox are complimentary procedures but are not a substitute for surgery.

Always options: There are facial treatments (co2 laser, certain peels, or ipl) that can tighten the skin and lessen wrinkles. Fillers can restore more volume to aging areas of the face. Botox can relax certain muscles and can simulate a "lifted" look to those areas. However a facelift will generally give more dramatic long lasting results that no non-surgical intervention can offer.

No: Nothing equates the results of a facelift.

Facelift or not: Nothing can lift loose muscle, address extra fat and skin like a facelift. Lasers may improve skin texture, color, and looseness while fillers improve folds and lines and botulinum toxin improves expression lines. However, all these non=invasive treatments are not as dramatic as a surgery.

Yes but less results: There are plently of non-surgical atlernatives to facelifts but these results may be performed independently or in combination with facelift procedures. Few of these will achieve the magnitude of correction that a facelift can achieve, some will supplement and enhance the results of a facelift. Procedures include peels, laser, radiofrequency, high intensity ultrasound, fillers, fat, botox, etc.

Not the same: There are many procedures besides facelift for making a face look naturally rested and younger. However, none of these procedures are as powerful a tool as facelift in the rejuvenation of the brow, cheek, jowl and neck. Facial fillers, fat transfers, botox, eyelid surgery, resurfacing lasers, and facial implants are all effective treatments, but work best when combined with the facelift procedure.

Yes: In patients with minimal neck findings I have delivered great results with a volumetric facelift by fat grafting. However, my best aesthetic result is usually with a smas facelift.

Facelift Options: Facelifts require surgery. Do not be fooled by "liquid" or other non surgical procedures. Lasers, peels, and fillers can improve a facelift but not replace it.

Other options: The quality of your facial and neck skin along with their tone assists in determining which option is best. Lack of contour or projection in the cheeks and mid face can be significantly improved with Radiesse (dermal fillers) and Voluma. However, if you have jowls or neck laxity then the answer is a facelift. Mini facelifts are best the smallest correction. www.artofplasticsurgery.com

Facelift results: At this point, no noninvasive procedure can match the results of a facelift. While other modalities can offer some improvement, only surgery restores sagging tissues and allows for removal of excess skin.
