A member asked:

During my recent surgery to remove a tumor next to my spine, the surgeon cut through two of my intercostal nerves mobilizing the upper part my abs. what will happen with my abs (go numb, weaken, have a bulge)? is it permanent? any possible treatment?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

I think the surgeon will have to answer your question as he/she knows exactly where the nerves were resected and based on past cases can determine whether regeneration is possible and, if not, what symptoms will ensue and whether any physical therapy would eventually help.
