Any person with a blow to the head that leaves a visible indented defect should be examined as soon as possible by an in person Dr. The dangers are that the blow may have caused internal bleeding in the brain or skull that may eventually compromise brain function.

It’s unclear from your question as to when this happened and what the “dent” looks like. The concern with a “dent” is whether there is damage to the skull below the skin. If this happened more than 24 to 48 hours ago and he seems fine (no vomiting/ is acting fine) & your question is whether this dent will remain, this is less serious, but an exam in person is best to answer and make sure he is OK.
