ESR and CRP are “inflammatory markers” and are elevated in innumerable conditions that cause systemic (body wide) inflammation. Rheumatoid arthritis is one such conditions. If your results are normal, it reduces the chance you have RA. If elevated, it could be RA or something else. Discuss with your doctor.

No, they are used as screening tests for the presence of inflammatory conditions, by no means diagnostic of rheumatoid arthritis.

Both tests screen underlying inflammation, but neither is specific for any disease. There are specific serological tests to evaluate the presence of inflammatory arthropathies.
