How do you determine the severity of rheumatoid arthritis? ccp over 250, rf=103 neg crp and esr- joint pain feet and hands- swelling 2 fingers. doc says severe- scared of methotrexate and other meds. can i just avoid meds?

Unlikely.: Rheumatoid arthritis is a lifelong progressive autoimmune disease. If not treated, pain and joint deformity usually worsen over the lifetime of an affected person. Find a doctor you trust to explain how different medications work and choose one together to help your current symptoms and halt or slow progression of your disease.
