A member asked:

Confused by lab results.dr thinking rheumatoid arthritis. low hem, hemotricot, mcv, mch, mchc, creatine.high platelet, rdw, esr,c reactive protein. ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It's tempting to try: ...to find one condition that explains ALL abnormal findings. High esr,and c-reactive protein may be related to Rheumatoid Arthritis but can be caused by other conditions too. Low hematocrit, hemoglobin, mcv, mch & high rdw suggest an iron-deficiency anemia, not RA per se. However, meds for RA (including aspirin-like meds) can cause anemia & other abnormal tests. It IS confusing!
