Outpatient surgery: If it is bothering him, he should be evaluated by a hand surgeon. His condition (trigger finger) and overall health will be reviewed to determine if anything can be safely done to improve function and decrease pain.

Let me explain: It sound your father have bad case of trigger finger the treatment: 1-steroids. An injection of a steroid medication. If this did not work then: 2-percutaneous trigger finger release. If that did not help: 3-surgery open release . Good luck.
